Michael Murray Vezina (Vez), born July 29, 1941, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022 after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 35 years, Susan (Heit), and is the proud father of two daughters, Meredith (Laura) and Jaclyn (Kyle), sons David, Brett (Jessica), and Jeremy (Pamela), and grandsons Kylan, Owen, and Harrison.  Predeceased by his parents Bob (Rosario) and Genevieve, and brothers Howard, Robert and Lyall, he is survived by his brother Colin (Noreen).

Born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, Mike lived a rich and fulfilling life, lighting up every room he entered. Best known for his exceptionally good sense of humour, zest for life, and his fierce loyalty, his greatest loves were his family and friends. Ever present at the hockey rink and soccer field, Mike also enjoyed taking family on camping, boating, and skiing trips, and greatly anticipated his annual fishing trips with childhood friends. He spent countless hours on the golf course in pursuit of the perfect swing, and in the last decade found great joy in escaping winter in Florida, extending his golf game year-round. Beloved by his extended family, Mike will be best remembered for his irreverent humour and his penchant for using outrageous nicknames.

After a start working as a journalist for the North Bay Nugget, and was recruited to DuPont after being noticed for his some of his reporting. Mike had a long, successful career in Sales and Marketing, notably with DuPont throughout Canada and the USA, Theratronics and TKI in Ottawa, and with Salus Global Co. in London, Ontario a company he helped build that provided lifesaving patient safety programming to hospitals globally. His work and adventurous spirit brought him around the world, throughout Asia, South America, and Europe. Forever eager for new opportunities, Mike lived throughout Ontario for the majority of his life and also spent several years in Chicago and Wilmington, DE. He created enduring friendships wherever he went.

Our most sincere thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at LHSC Cancer Centre in London, and in lieu of flowers, donations to this centre would be greatly appreciated, as would blood donations to Blood Services of Canada, for those who are able. Friends of Mike are also asking for donations towards a new Echo Ultrasound machine that would greatly benefit the quality of care at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, these can be made through nbrhcfoundation.ca, under donate now, and noting of “In Memoriam of Michael Vezina”.

A celebration of life will take place on April 22, 2023, at the Grande Event Centre, 300 Wyld Street in North Bay, Ontario from 1-4pm.

To know you was to love you. You will be deeply missed Vez.
