Marinus Johan Verwey peacefully passed away, at his home (of North Bay) at the age of 68. Surrounded by his family, on July 11th, 2022, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marinus is survived by his wife Laurie Verwey (nee Hancock) of 36years. Precious father to Melissa Watts (Jonathan), Klaas, Amelia Beam (Jackson). Special Opa to Emilia, Ruby and Matthias. Also survived by siblings, Bill (Marlene), Rick (Lynne), Joyce (Ivan),

Mary Ann (Tony). Predeceased by his parents Willem & Sya Verwey, and brother Andy Verwey. Brother-in-law to - Eric (Susan), Shirley(deceased)(Tom), Nancy, Wendy(deceased), Beverley (Glenn). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Holland, Marinus moved with his family, to Canada in 1960. Marinus' faith in Jesus, is what he valued the most. He loved the relationships he had with family, friends, co-workers, and neighbours. Spending time with his church family and going on a missions trip to Haiti, in 2007, were of great importance, in Marinus' life.

Marinus Loved nature and spending time in the Bush. He made a career of taking care of the forest, as a forestry technician, for over 40 years, at the Ministry of Natural Resources. He was quick to lend a hand, give advice, or offer aid of any kind. Marinus was proud of his homeland of Holland and carried on special family traditions. He was serious, but also silly. Laughing the hardest, at his own jokes. He was honest, straight forward and a hard worker. A wonderful provider, spouse, father, Opa, brother, uncle and friend.

He will be missed greatly - until we meet again- we love you Marinus, and are thankful, to God, for every day He gave us together.

Celebration of Life to be held on July 23, 2022, at 11am at Lakeshore Missionary Church, luncheon to follow.

Donations can be made to any children's organization of your choice, any missionaries of your choice and or Planting a tree in honour of Marinus.
