TIPLER: John David "Jack"

May 13, 1943 – March 29, 2023
Passed away in his home on March 29, 2023, in his 80th year. Jack was the beloved husband of Julia Tipler. They married May 18, 1968. Loving father of Jeff (Kim) and Jon (Annette). He will be remembered by his grandchildren Jackson, Abbey, Einin, Rory, Riley, Alexia, and Brayden, and brother Rolph (Isobel).  Predeceased by brothers Bert (Marilyn), and Harold (Carol). Jack retired after serving 30 years as a professor at Canadore College. He was very active with his church, Calvin Presbyterian. Jack was involved with Scouts Canada for many years as a section leader, administrator, trainer, and camp-fire leader at the district, regional and provincial levels, and was an honorary member of the national council. He enjoyed spending time outdoors - camping, canoeing, boating, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid reader and had an enviable wood-working shop. He was also a sudoku addict. Jack spent many hours with Julie maintaining their many flower beds, rockeries and showcase yard. Julie and Jack enjoyed many trips together traveling the globe, visiting some 32 countries. Long term executive members of Club 45, a dinner-dance club, Julie, and Jack enjoyed dancing. They were both avid euchre players. Jack served as a regatta referee for the North Bay Canoe Club, was a former member of the North Bay Yacht Club, coached kids' ball, served on the board of the Nipissing District Industrial Training Committee, and served on the North Himsworth Athletic Association. Jack was also a recipient of the Governor General's Medal of Merit for his work with Scouts Canada, as well as a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. Memorial Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm & 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 am.

Interment of ashes will take place in the family plot at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
