thompson, jeanne

Was a beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 99 years of life. In the early hours of Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Jean passed peacefully in her 100th year.

She was a devoted and caring wife to the late Percy Harold Thompson. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Gayle Ferrill (Bob), Sandra Amyot (Neil, deceased), Brenda Raycraft (Darcey), and Glenn Thompson (Jacqueline); grandchildren: Natasha Ferrill, Christopher Amyot (Lisa), Nathaniel Amyot (Aleksandra), Brandon Amyot (Rachelle), Kayla Raycraft (Kyle), Lyndsay Raycraft, Sean Thompson, and Scotty Thompson; great-grandchildren: Marlee Morin, Emmet Morin, Evan Amyot, James Amyot, and Henry Amyot; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by her parents Theresa (French) and Eugene Lalonde; brothers Harry Lalonde (Lee), Doug Lalonde (Charlotte) and sister Molly Jensen (Carl).

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jean had a career in the federal government before meeting the love of her life, Percy. He swept her off her feet the first night they met at a local dance. She quickly fell in love and they were married in 1952. Family was the most important part of life for Jean. She enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with Percy by her side, until he passed in 2017. A caretaker at heart, Jean made sure that everyone around her was cared for and loved, right up until the very end.

She will be dearly missed by her family, forever in our hearts. A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the North Bay Regional Health Centre. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Spencer and the nurses at North Bay Regional Health Centre for their exceptional care and compassion during her final days.
