Died peacefully at Holland Christian Homes in Brampton on Saturday November 18, 2006. She is survived by her beloved twin sister, Marion Labreche. Edna was predeceased by her parents Bessie and Digory George Stevens and her siblings Sydney Stevens, Phyllis Horton and Ruth Leider. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Steve Horton (Mary Lou), Linda Horton-Thomas (Geoff), Jill Labreche, Claire Labreche-Lockhart (John) and Rick Leider (Elizabeth). She was a great aunt to Laura, Michael, Andrea, Mark, Luke, Andrew, Timothy, Matthew, Alex, Trevor, Danielle and Christian and a great grand aunt to Bryson.
Edna was the principal of Tweedsmuir Public School and was appointed to the staff of North Bay Teacher’s College in 1958. As well, Edna was a Professor of Education and founding member of the Board of Governors for Nipissing University. Friends may call at St. John’s Anglican Church on Saturday November 25th from 10-11 am. The funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 11 am.
