Passed away peacefully at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, on Monday, January 15, 2007, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Harold (Steve) Stephenson (1994). Sister of Ruth McLaren of Hamilton. Predeceased by Lorena Clark (1930), Abetta (Betty) Tate (1998) of North Bay. Stepmother of Lorne Stephenson of Moose Jaw, and Ron Stephenson of Scarborough. Sister in law of Ken and Norma Stephenson of London, Wilma and Dick Cowell of Tillsonburg. Aunt to 9 nieces and nephews, Mary Brown, Judy McLaughlin and Michael Tate of North Bay, Heather Moran-Cowell, Gail Legein, Lee Cowell and Scott Cowell of Tillsonburg, Janet MacFarland and Jeff Stephenson of London. Grandmother of Jamal, Loni, Lisa and Kirsti Stephenson.

Phyllis was born in New Liskeard, Ontario on February 23, 1925, the daughter of the late Abram and Lorena (Durrell) Clark, and grew up in the village of Trout Creek, Ontario. Phyllis met her future husband while nursing in Tillsonburg, and was later married in Langton, Ontario on September 15, 1948. Phyllis was a trained nurse who enjoyed her career in her younger years. She was a long time member of the Ottawa Grace Hospital Nurses Alumnae. Phyllis and Steve were one of the original residents of Brooksdale subdivision in Dorchester, building their home in 1955. Many local kids have great memories of time spent at Aunt “Tim“ and Uncle Steves' house on Terrance Street, where she lived for 44 years. Phyllis will be fondly remembered by her friends and long time neighbours in Dorchester. Phyllis had been a resident of the Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care for the last number of years, living an independent, self directed lifestyle to the best of her ability. Many thanks to the dedicated people at Mount Hope and Helping Hands Plus for their assistance in providing the additional care which made her stay at Mount Hope more comforting.

There will be no public visitation. Cremation arrangements will be made through the Memorial Funeral Home in London (519-452-3770). Interment will be in the Dorchester Union Cemetery, where there will be a committal service on January 27, 2007 at 11 am. All family and friends are welcome.
