With great sadness we announce that Darlene Marie Sparks passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 5, 2023 at the age of 61, with loved ones by her side. Darlene fought bravely against her illness and gifted those around her a wonderful and unexpected year.
“Cookie” as she was most affectionately known was born in Haileybury, ON on October 24, 1961 to loving parents Hubert and Armande (Brousseau) Sparks, both predeceased.
Darlene expressed her love for her family in countless ways including writing and publishing a children’s book which she dedicated to her daughters and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family and laughter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved daughters Crystal (Peter) Londry and Melissa (Jamie) Moore (from her former marriage to Michel Gagnon) and her grandchildren Anika, Gabriel, Brooklynn, Cadance, Ryder and Austin, as well as her siblings Susan (Guy) Belanger-Souliere, Sharon (predeceased - Rick) Zielinski, Sandra (predeceased - Robert) Sparks, Christine (Len) Huard and Randy (Debbie) Sparks.
She will be laid to rest alongside her parents at St. Marys Cemetery in North Bay followed by a celebration of life which will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and the Empire Living Centre for their care and support. If desired, donations to the NBRHC Palliative Care Unit would be gratefully appreciated by her family.
