At her home in Callander, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” South died peacefully, following a short battle with cancer on Thursday, May 31, 2012. She was in her 66th year. Betty (nee Robida) was the beloved wife of William E. ’Bill’ South of Callander. She was the loving mother of Kathy Barber (Eric) of Callander, Kevin South (Teri) of Barrie and Jessica Anderson (Mark) of Callander and grandmother of Jamie & Julia South, Ryan & Kaitlyn Barber and Payton, Cole and Mitchell Anderson. Betty was the dear sister of Sue Jaques (Rob) of Chisholm and the late Ben Robida (survived by sister-in-law Heather Robida of St. Catharines). For 31 years Betty was a School Teacher for the East Parry Sound/Near North District School Board retiring in 2000. She served as President of the Powassan Horticultural Society and was an active member of the Knox United Church (Nipissing) United Church Women and the Church Choir. The South family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow on Monday at 11:00 am. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Nipissing Cemetery.
