Survived by her sister Eunice Phillips and her sister-in-law Anne Seymour. Mabel will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, James and Jenny Jeffrey, sisters, Elsie Derochie, Isobel Dedman and Frances (Mickey) Lamb, brothers, Robert and Leonard Jeffrey.

Mom just missed out on her 92nd birthday by 8 days; however, she loved many activities of her long, diversified life. First and foremost, Mom was devoted to her husband, Bill, with whom she lived and worked for 61 years. With Shankland Plumbing and Heating, Bill took care of the plumbing and heating aspects and Mom mastered the administrative side of the business which included keeping meticulous books while also being a mother to five children. Organizing family barbeques was also a favourite pastime for Mom. She loved the excitement of her children and grandchildren coming to swim, water-ski and catch up on family news over a good burger. Mom also had a keen interest in reading. “Putting away“ a novel a day, after retirement of course, was not unusual. Lastly, Mom loved all forms of wildlife and viewing them from the cottage deck. She would get excited while spotting a deer on the property; she was always eager for bird watching, an activity of which she partook on her last day of life, and she did her best to keep Bill baiting her hook as she fished for the big ones. Mom was small in stature, quiet and unassuming, but a towering example of strength for her family.
