Retired Inspector North Bay City Police - Life long North Bay resident Don Scott died peacefully at his home on Tuesday June 5, 2007, after a valiant struggle with cancer at the age of 72 years. Don was the beloved and devoted husband of Delta (nee Robinson) whom he married 50 years ago at North Bay. The proud and loving father of David (Sylvie) of Orleans, Dawn Toner (Bruce) of Hillsdale and Daren (Dana) of Richmond, Texas. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Melanie, Nicholas, Melissa, Shawn, Kieran and Mackenzie. Dear brother of Art (Mavis) of North Bay & Marion Wingo (Bob) of Hinton, Alberta. Don was predeceased by his parents the late Clifford and Hannah Scott, his sister Florence Matkin (Sam predeceased) and his brother Cecil. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers in law Bernice Haggart (Ken), Eileen South and Beverley Wood (Bob) all of North Bay and Babe Robinson (Art predeceased) of Rouyn, Quebec.



Born and raised in North Bay Don received his elementary and secondary education here. Following high school he was employed by the ONR and worked in the paint shop for ten years. In 1962 he was able to fulfill his goal of becoming a policeman and joined the North Bay City Force. Thirty years later, in 1992, he retired as an Inspector after what he described as a wonderful career. Don and Delta were avid golfers and retirement allowed them the opportunity to travel and golf with their many friends. Don was a member of the 422 Wing and the North Bay Golf & Country Club.



Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) today from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in St. John's Anglican Church on Friday June 8, 2007 at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow with inurnment of his ashes in all Saints Mausoleum. If desired donations to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation, the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
