SCHLEDEWITZ, Theodore (Red)

Posted

Passed Sunday, July 22, surrounded by family at Cassellholme Home for the Aged in North Bay at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his parents Maria Elizabeth Marc and David F. Schledewitz, of Winnipeg, Man., 13 brothers and sisters and his wife, Olivette (Olivia) Morin Schledewitz. He is survived by son Mark (Gwen) Schledewitz of North Bay and daughter Janice (Gary) Morgan of Elliot Lake as well as grandchildren Kim Schledewitz and Stacey (Darin Edwards) Schledewitz of North Bay, Beth and Ian Morgan of Toronto and great grandson Ethan Schledewitz-Edwards of North Bay.

For many years after the war, “Red” was a well-known sports enthusiast in baseball, softball and hockey in Timmins, Ont. He left his new hometown to pursue travels with a job that took him to the wilds of Red Lake, Labrador, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Alta., and Saudi Arabia. Pepere chose to spend his retirement years admiring the view of Lake Nipissing from “his” porch, doing crossword puzzles and watching his grandchildren swim at the lake.

Cremation will be followed by interment at St. Mary's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Society.
