Peacefully with family by her side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer at North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. She was in her 78th year. Marlene (nee Hampel) was the beloved mother of Katherine Buckle (Stephen) of North Bay and Donald Saari (Marian) of Bracebridge and cherished grandmother of Kristy, D.J., Kaitlin and Ryan. She was the dear sister of Doreen Laronde of North Bay, the late Raymond Hampel, the late June Generoux, Harold Hampel of Loring, Carol Ann Beattie-Hunt of North Bay and Donald Hampel of Arnstein. Marlene was predeceased by her parents Alma (nee Berger) and Henry Hampel. She was predeceased by her former husband Reino Saari. Marlene was a long time employee of the Ontario Civil Service Credit Union in North Bay. A graveside service and interment will take place Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in Arnstein Cemetery. A celebration of Marlene’s life will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeshore Missionary Church, North Bay.
