Peacefully our much loved Mum and Nanny left us on January 25, 2011, at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, while in her 97th year, after a brief illness. Saying goodbye was hard because she was a “Special” lady whose strong will and funny sense of humour touched everyone who loved her and met her.
Mother of two sons, George and his wife Gloria (Mississauga), and Victor and his wife Laurie (North Bay) and “Nanny” to five Grandchildren Nancy Ranney (Keith), Dean Thrasher (Lise), Blair Thrasher (Stacey), Mark Thrasher (Terrie), Carrie Sanderson (Jason) and beloved “Nanny” to nine Great Grandchildren, Kyle and Shannon Thrasher, Sydney and Carly Thrasher, Jessica, Nicole, Morgan Ranney, Lee Thrasher and Sarah Sanderson.
Predeceased by husbands Rupert Thrasher (1962), Bruce Allingham (1974), and Earl Craig (2000) . Rosaline Patricia (Rose) (Philbrook) was born in Minataki, Ontario on November 14, 1914, daughter of Alfred Edward Philbrook and wife Jane (Roberts) Philbrook and predeceased by siblings Lou Philbrook, May (Hansen), Lillian (McGillivray), Harry Philbrook, Ted Philbrook and Daisy (Runicles). Also survived by several nieces and nephews and Great nieces and nephews in British Columbia.
Living in North Bay since 1957, Rose was very active in several organizations, Fidelis Chapter No. 99 of The Eastern Star, The North Bay Orange Lodge, St. Brice’s Anglican Church, North Bay Granite Club, and in later years with her husband Earl Craig, Calvin Presbyterian Church, The North Bay Museum, the Canadian Club. She lived at Sovereign Court and Empire Living Centre before moving to Mississauga in 2005. The family would like to thank her friends at Erin Mills Lodge and the medical staff at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga for her compassionate care during her hospital visit.
