Orest Romaniuk died suddenly on Friday, April 23, 2004. Loving husband of Gloria Joanisse-Romaniuk of Timmins. Dear father of Randi Romaniuk of Ottawa, Janet Romaniuk and Nadine Anderson (husband Wayne) all of Winnipeg. Predeceased by his son Stephane Joanisse (2003) (surviving wife Sherrie) of Timmins. Brother of Toni Romanic (wife Ethel) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Nestor Romaniuk (wife Carol) of Edmonton, Rolly Romaniuk (wife Jana) of Fort Saskatchewan, Molly Bruckal (husband Thomas) of Penticton, the late Roni Rudolph and the late Larry Roman. Dearest son of Catherine Romaniuk of Edmonton. Grandfather of Cheryl, Adam and Shannon Romaniuk of Winnipeg, Kristi and Haley Joanisse of Timmins. Also survived by his mother-in-law Adrienne Joanisse of Timmins. Orest devoted his life to mining and managed many shaft contracts throughout Canada. He will be fondly remembered as a cherished father, husband, father-in-law and grandfather. Orest is very well known for popularizing the word "potlicker". Funeral mass will be held at 12(noon) on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 from St. Anthony's Cathedral. Cremation will follow. Remembrance donations to the Porcupine Miner's Memorial Fund would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends, today, April 26, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. as well as Tuesday, April 27, 2004 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home, 150 Balsam St. South, Timmins.
