Rita Catherine Quinlan

Beloved daughter of Catherine Quinlan (Ryan) and Clifford Quinlan (deceased July 8, 1971, Wabush, Labrador). Dear sister of Sister Gertrude (Sister Dominica) a Sister of St. Joseph, Elizabeth Piercey, and brothers Cyril Quinlan (deceased August 30, 1999) and Joe Quinlan (deceased March 21, 2002). Mother of three children: Greg Follett, Brian Follett and Nancy Koch and grandmother of six grandchildren: Ashley, Chelsey, Lauren, Ashton, Bryce Follett and Tommy Koch. Attending the funeral were Catherine Quinlan and Sister Gertrude Quinlan, North Bay, Elizabeth and Ford Piercey, Pasadena, NF; Greg Kelli, Caley and Devon Lundquist Follett, North Bay; Brian Follett, Fort McMurray, Alberta; Nancy Koch (Joe), Fort McMurray, Alberta; Margo and Bill Ward, Orillia, Ontario; Kathy Elliot, Mississauga, Ontario; Bonnie Washer, West Hill, Ontario; Joe and Pat Murphy, Smith Falls, Ontario; Rita Purcell, Smith Falls, Ontario; Mary Allen, Smith Falls, Ontario; Marg Chant, Portland, Ontario; Frank and Loryaine Fitzpatrick, Orillia, Ontario; Peg and Reg Fitzpatrick, Bracebridge, Ontario; many Sisters/Associates of the Sisters of St. Joseph; as well as Rita’s friends, including North Bay residents from the Triple Link and Edgewater Apartments where Rita had lived. Funeral Mass for the late Rita Quinlan was celebrated by Monsignor Norm Clement, assisted by Reverend Al Lamothe, at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption, Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 10 am. Also present in the sanctuary was Reverend Myles Sharpe. Pallbearers were Brian Follett, Greg Follett, Roger Goode, Joe Murphy, Ford Piercey and Bill Ward. A ritual for the interment of the cremated remains was held at the South River Cemetery on Friday, October 24th, 2003 with Monsignor Norm Clement presiding. Special thanks to Constable Sylvia Cotgreave for her support this past week, the Sisters and staff at St. Joseph’s Motherhouse, and the organist and volunteer choir members. To all who called, sent cards, were present at the Visitation and/or the Vigil Service and participated in the celebration of Rita’s life at the Mass of the Resurrection – a heartfelt Thanks from Rita’s families.
