REID, Peter Gordon

Posted

Peter bravely fought the fight against cancer until the end, and on Thursday, August 16, 2007, left peacefully while surrounded by loved ones in his home at the age of 52. Peter was predeceased by his father Gordon and is survived by his cherished soul-mate Judy, mother Barbara, sisters Cathy McFee (Ed Zegarac) and BJ Reid (John Rempel), parents-in-law Cliff and Dorothy Pennell, sisters-in-law Sandy McLaren (Don), Cathy Pilon (Dany), Nancy Taylor (Rob), brother-in-law Ron Pennell (Francine), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Peter moved to North Bay in 1975, where he met and later married the love of this life, Judy. For over 30 wonderful years together, they faced life's joys and sorrows, hand-in-hand and heart-in-heart. Peter began his career with the North Bay Transit System as a bus driver, and was Transit Manager for the past four years. He was instrumental in the vision, planning and construction of the new transit terminal, completed this past summer. Peter was an avid golfer and particularly enjoyed his “Men's Night“ foursome at Osprey Links. He was also a favorite figure in the lives of many children, including Papa-Peter's Little Treasure, Benja-monkey. Peter had a quiet, loving and charitable manner. He touched the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Throughout his illness, his positive attitude and ability to comfort those around him has been an inspiration. His sense of humour, easy-going style, and caring nature will be profoundly missed. Special thanks to the ParaMed nurses who helped care for Peter, especially “Nurse Marion“ who traveled this journey with us from beginning to end with compassion and support. Thank you to Dr. Lacroix whose kindness will always be remembered. To all our wonderful friends and neighbours, thank you, you will always have a special place in our hearts.
