April 13, 1942 – October 6, 2022

John passed peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones.

Left to mourn are his wife of 27 years, Beth Claridge, and his sons, Shane Ranger (Jill), Christian Ranger (Michele), Shawn Chalmers (Nadia), and Chance Chalmers (Shannon). He will be missed by his grandchildren Zachary, Lillian, Norah, and Everett.

John had a passion for music and spent many years in the United States performing, writing, and recording with various bands. Upon returning to North Bay, he become known as the “Classic Piano Man”, entertaining at several venues and local restaurants. His most notable gig was at Churchill’s Restaurant, tickling the keys of the grand piano for more than 20 years.

We would like to thank Dr. Jinnah, Dr. Leckie, and our wonderful Paramed nurse, Chelsea, who has given gentle care throughout his journey.

Cremation has taken place. A private burial of ashes will be planned for the spring.

In memory of John, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation (nbrhcfoundation.ca) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
