Longtime North Bay teacher Reg Proctor died peacefully at Leisureworld on Friday June 26th, 2009 at age 96. For the past 66 years Reg has been the beloved husband of Betty (nee Henderson). The proud and loving father of MaryAnn Pascoe and husband Lorne (Sherwood Park, AB.) and Jane Boss and husband Ronald (Richmond Hill), he will be lovingly remembered by granddaughters Katherine and Jennifer, great granddaughter Hannah, and niece Dianne Valade. He will be sadly missed by sister Lenna Ackroyd (North Bay) and was predeceased by parents Mary(Elliot) and Hiram Proctor of New Liskeard, brother Carl and sister Mildred Hinds. Born on July 7, 1913 and raised in New Liskeard, Reg proudly served in the RC Artillery during WWII. He attended Queen's University, and returned north to teach in Englehart. In 1954 Reg moved to North Bay and taught for many years at NBCI&VS. He retired in 1974 from West Ferris Secondary School as Director of the Commercial Department. Reg was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Branch 23 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was a dedicated member, and former Elder of Calvin Presbyterian Church. His passion was playing Dixieland music on his tenor banjo. Many thanks to Dr. Williams and the excellent staff on Pier 2, Leisureworld. Cremation and private family service have taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to MARTYN FUNERAL HOME.
