In Loving memory of Ann Porter

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Ann Porter on Thursday August 10, 2023, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre; mom was in her 100th year.

Ann will be dearly missed by her son David (Linda) and daughters Lynda (John Teteart) and Beth (Brian Doucet). Ann’s grandchildren, Timothy (Trisha) Porter, Andrew (Rayna) Porter, Megan (Dominic) Porter, Corinne (Keith) Rutledge, Mitchell (Kristen) Bouchard, James (Cass) Teteart and Bryan (Tracy) Bouchard all adored their Grandma. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren who loved their GG very much.

Ann was an only child who was predeceased by her parents in Scotland and her husband Gerald Stanley Porter who died in 1959 in Gaza while serving with the UNEF. Born and raised in Lasswade Midlothian Scotland, she came to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She quickly began her journey of becoming a life-long resident of North Bay. A community minded person, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Golden Age Club. She also volunteered for years at the Ontario Psychiatric Hospital.

Visiting will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16th from 11 am to 1 pm with a service to follow in the chapel. Cremation will follow with interment in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Montreal, a cause that was close to Ann’s heart. Condolences may be offered online at www.martynfh.com.
