POPP, Philipp

Posted

After a long and courageous battle with illness, it is with the greatest sadness we announce the passing of Philipp Popp on Sunday May 1, 2016 at the age of 71 years. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Edeltraud (Terry). Loving and devoted father to Sandra Popp, Claudia Popp and Philipp Popp Jr. Opa will be sadly missed by his precious granddaughter Peyton. Predeceased by his parents Friedrich and Maria Popp. As a loving and proud man, Philipp was the successful business owner of G & P Welding & Iron Works in North Bay for over thirty years employing many. Treating all with the greatest of respect regardless the endeavour, Philipp was also a talented and imposing man on the soccer field, playing goalie for Germania in North Bay, an avid golfer and reader. Before getting ill, Philipp most enjoyed his daily walks throughout the neighbourhood. Some of his most cherished moments included his Florida travels. A gentle, kind and selfless man, he most loved his “Traudel” and the life they created together as they immigrated to Canada in 1970. Always proud, Philipp fought valiantly until the very end. Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, on Thursday May 5th from 7 until 9 pm. Funeral service Friday May 6th at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 725 Ferguson Street at 11 am. Donations to the Cardiac and Cancer Care Units of the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation in memory of Philipp will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
