Evelyn died peacefully, her children by her side, at Eastholme, Powassan, on Thursday, February 1, 2024. She was 95 years old. Evelyn (Parrott) was predeceased by her first husband Allan “Max” Paul (1930-1980) and her second husband Thomas Casey (1927-2009). She was the cherished mother of Richard Paul (Joanne) of Powassan, Susan Brushey (Jim) of Mississauga, Barb Caicco (John) of Callander and Liz Brooks (Paul) of Callander. She will be lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ev was the dear sister of Marilyn Bell (Keith) of Guelph and was predeceased by her siblings Violet Waters (late Bob), Ralph Parrott (late Nora), Frank Parrott (late Jean), Thelma Brock (late Howard) and George Parrott (late Marsha).
A pillar of the Powassan community for many years, Evelyn was a lifelong member of Powassan United Church, Past-President and member of Powassan United Church Women, Co-founder of Friendly Kiddies Nursery School, Past-President and member of the Canadian Cancer Society, member of the Almaguin Choral Society and pianist for the Powassan Lions Club. Music was her life. Evelyn played piano both by ear and by note and instilled that love in her children. She may best be remembered as the former owner/operator of the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan, during which time she immersed herself in the profession, serving on the Board of Guaranteed Funeral Deposits and as a member of the Ontario Funeral Service Association. Evelyn was a lifelong skier and supporter of Nipissing Ridge Ski Hill in Powassan. She was an avid traveller and lifelong cottager on Lake Nipissing.
Ev’s family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Eastholme for the loving care shown to mom during her nine-year stay, and for the special care during her palliative journey.
Friends may call at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, and on Saturday, February 10 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Powassan United Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm and will be live-streamed at paulfuneralhome.ca. Spring interment Powassan Union Cemetery.
