Shirley passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday, October 15th, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of the late Warren Paterson, who predeceased her in 2000, in her 97th year. Dear mother of Robert “Rob” Paterson (Karen), Michael Paterson, and Tim Paterson (Tina), all of North Bay, and the late Myra Milne.  She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sarah, Julie, Christopher, Warren, Tracey, Jordon, Cameron, and Carter.  Fondly remembered by many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Otto Smith (Grace) of Stoney Creek, Elva Cressey (late Jack) of Richmond Hill, late Zelma Fawcett (late Lavern) of North Bay, Erie Cressey (late Frank) Powassan, and the late Verna Phillipps (late Lloyd) of North Bay.

Mom was the office manager of F R Paterson Plumbing and Heating Ltd, Kodiak Mechanical Ltd and the Paterson group of companies for over 30 years. Many wonderful memories were made at the family cottage on Trout Lake for over 70 years. Mom enjoyed various hobbies including her gardens at home and at the lake, providing an abundance of vegetables to those of us who did not have a green thumb.  Sewing and knitting held a special place in her heart, and she eagerly shared her skills with both her children and grandchildren. Mom loved our family get togethers, celebrating on special occasions and holidays.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Interment of ashes will be held at St. John’s Anglican cemetery on Saturday, November 4th at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow.  If desired, a donation to St. John’s Anglican Church would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

We would like to thank the wonderful nurses & staff at the Barclay House, and on A3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, for the care they gave to our mother. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
