It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nelson announce his sudden passing on Friday January 26, 2024. Nelson was the loving father of Carissa and Elaina. He was the cherished son of Claude and Leoni Paquette. He was the big brother to Leann, Dana (Jason), and Martin. He will lovingly be remembered by his Oma, Martha Gubbels. He is survived by the mother of his children, Emily. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a plethora of friends..
Nelson was predeceased by his grandparents Paul and Florence Paquette, Cleophas and Ardina Gubbels, and his cousins Matthew and Cody.
Nothing made Nelson prouder and gave him more joy than being Daddy to his two girls. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his propensity to light up the room with his humour. He was always there to lend a hand and intuitively knew when people were in need of his support. Everyone who has had the good fortune to have met him can attest to his quirkiness – in Nelson’s world all head shaped things needed a hat and all hat shaped things needed a head. We know you won’t be far away when we partake in future bonfires, nature walks, and guitar jam sessions. Nelson, you are irreplaceable! Truly one of a kind.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to The PADDLE Program (paddlenorthbay.ca), The Northern Cancer Foundation, the Ottawa Cancer Foundation, or Serenity Renewal for Families (serenityrenewal.ca) would be appreciated by the family. Completing an act of kindness in memory of Nelson would be a wonderful way to honor his memory and legacy.
