Rita Oshell died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Eastholme, Powassan, on Saturday, April 4, 2020. She was 93 years old. Rita (Holtforster) was predeceased by her husband Mervyn John Oshell (1924-2001). She was the beloved mother of Peter Oshell (Elaine), Debbie Piekarski (Steve), Donna Arkwright (John), Mike Oshell (Kim) and Paul Oshell (Sue). She will be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren: Darren, Jackie, Anna, Kayla, Emma, Carrie, Brandon and Nicole, and five great-grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Derbyshire (the late Jim) and by her brother Eugene Holtforster. Rita, along with her husband Mervyn, co-founded the store that is now Oshell’s valu-mart in Powassan. Interment at Powassan Union Cemetery has taken place. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Should you wish to make a donation in Rita’s memory, St. Joseph’s Church Building Fund is suggested.
