NEWMAN, Rita

Passed away at North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, Saturday, August 27, 2005, Rita Newman (nee Whelan), beloved wife of the late Leonard Newman, in her 81st year. Loving mother of Mary Forest (Frank), Catherine O'Reilly (Ken) and Michael Newman (Dianne). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mary Catherine Forest, Kevin and Brian O'Reilly, Jackson and Avery Newman. Predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Bennett, Anna Vale (Bud surviving), John Whelan, Grace Whelan, William Whelan (Mary surviving) and Mary Griffin (Bob surviving), and her parents William and Elizabeth Whelan. Rita was a devoted mother and a foster parent for over 20 years, caring for over 100 children. She also volunteered at Cassellholme. Family receiving friends at the McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the North Bay General Hospital Fund or Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
