Murphy, John

John Scott Murphy, born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 11, 1949, died unexpectedly on September 25, 2017. As a boy, John moved to Australia for a brief time with his parents, Colman and Margaret, and sister, Heather, before the family made permanent residence in Ontario as Canadian citizens. After graduating from University of Toronto, John had a long and successful career in transportation, serving the government for 25 years at Transport Canada, then moving into airport management in North Bay (1993-1998) and Freeport, Grand Bahama Island (1998-2001). He returned to Canada to work as Regional Manager for CATSA until his retirement in 2004. Outside a brilliant career, John was an avid traveler, woodsman, photographer, and family man. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and sons Daniel and Thomas, who miss him with profound sadness. A visitation will be held for John at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, September 29th. Mass will be offered at the Pro Cathedral, Saturday at 10:00am.

Donations in memory of John to the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated by his family.
