Imre Stec Molnar

March 21, 1936 – January 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Imre (Jim) Molnar announces his recent passing on January 17, 2021 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.

Jim was the son of the late Maria (née Stec) and Imre Molnar of Budapest, Hungary.  He was the dearly loved father of Christopher (Patti Jo) and David (Elaine) and will be greatly missed by their sons’ mother, Vivian Molnar.  Jim especially cherished his grandchildren, Lucas, Brooklyn and Katelyn.  He was their beloved pépère.  Jim will be fondly missed by his sisters Gabriella and Eva, his nephew Arpi, his brother-in-law Philip Paquette, and his nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim was born in Budapest, Hungary and for many years played on one of the Hungarian soccer teams.  He immigrated to Canada in his late teens and eventually settled in North Bay.  Jim worked many years for the former John Mansville and Nordfibre companies as a foreman / machine operator. He also shared his handyman skills to help his family, friends and neighbours.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for fishing, hunting, boating and camping.  He was happy to pass on his knowledge and skills in these many pastimes to his sons and extended family.  Christopher and David cherished these special times with their dad.  He enjoyed spending time on Manitoulin Island, especially salmon fishing.  Jim loved to dance and listen to music. Great memories!

A very special thank you to all the staff at Eastholme Home for the Aged in Powassan for their compassion and excellent care of Jim for over seven years. Our grateful thanks also to the dedicated and caring nurses on floor C3 in the palliative care unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Visitation will take place at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on January 30, 2021 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. (Due to Current Covid-19 Restrictions Attendance at a visitation is scheduled by appointment only. Please call the funeral home to book your appointment time 705-472-8520)
