MILLER, James Stuart (1947-2007)

Posted

James Stuart Miller passed away peacefully in his 61st year in his tent at Agawa Falls on August 10th, 2007. Jim was born in Toronto on July 31st, 1947 to Margaret and Chester Miller. Over the years Jim worked as a Forester for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay, Red Lake, Timmins, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie. Most recently he worked for Clergue Forest Management, which he retired from four months ago as a general manager. Jim was an active man all his life, which shows in the work he did with such groups as the Canadian Red Cross, Sault Cycling Club, Sault Trails Committee, the Naturalists, the Voyageurs Club and Envirothon. Jim is survived by his wife, Janice Miller, his sons, Matthew and Andrew and their girlfriends Katie and Pamela. Jim will also be sorely missed by his sister, Lynn Bowen (Barry), nephews, Jim and Michael and his mother- in-law, Mrs. Alice Gaynor.

Friends may call at the ARTHUR FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral service from St. Andrew's United Church on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 7 pm. Internment will follow on Friday, August 18, 2007 with a procession beginning at the Arthur Funeral Home at 10 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Sault Ste. Marie Branch of the Canadian Red Cross. Jim was one of the kindest, most modest and empathetic individuals there was, one who thought of others before himself. Jim's gift was as a conciliator, with an uncanny ability to get opposing groups to work together; an irreplaceable person who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
