MILES, David John

Posted

83 of North Bay passed away on December 19, 2013 at Leisureworld.  David is survived by wife Edna, his sons:  David (Kim), Peter (Nancy) and Stephen (Cindy), grandchildren:  Andrew, Michael, Joanna, John, James, Peter, Sarah, Joel, David, Stephen, Rosemarie, Thomas, Benjamin and 11 great grandchildren.

David was born in Brighton, England on January 1, 1930.  As a child he endured the London Blitz in WWII and joined the RAF after the war.  He raced motorcycles as a young man and instilled the love of bikes in his sons.

David brought his family to Toronto, Canada in 1967 and started his own business, Miles Machine Tools.  He could fix anything mechanical.  He & Edna moved to the Corbeil in 2004 enjoying the beauty of the north.

He loved wood carving and in the last few years took up leather work and water colour painting.  Many of his paintings hang on the walls at Leisureworld.  His strong faith in God, positive attitude and sense of humour helped him through the road bumps of life.  He took great comfort from Psalm 23 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:  For Thou art with me”.  We will miss him.  Grateful thanks go to his special caregivers at Leisureworld and Pastor Dale.

As per his wishes, his remains will be cremated and a family memorial will be arranged for a future date.  Arrangements entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home
