McQUOID, Norma Ann Rae

Norma McQuoid died peacefully, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Sunday, December 13, 2015, in her 63rd year. She was predeceased by her parents Rae and Norm McQuoid. Norma was God Mother to Colleen Reid, Allison Reid (deceased) and Michael Reid. She was special friend to Ryan and Courtney Leveille. Norma was born November 2, 1953 in Kirkland Lake, ON. She started her career with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a police dispatcher in Cochrane in 1972, then served in Southern Ontario before transferring to the North Bay Communications Centre in the early 90’s. She played a key role in the transitions to a Regional Communications Centre and finally to Provincial Communications Centre North Bay. Norma retired June 13th 2005 as a CO3 (Senior Communications Operator) having trained many new operators. She became involved in the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans Association (OPPVA) after retirement serving as Branch 12 Secretary and Director for the OPPVA Provincial Board. During her life in Astorville Norma was a tireless volunteer with the Nosbonsing Anglers & Hunters, the East Ferris Public library and Helping Hands in Action” at the East Ferris seniors Villa. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Norma’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan.
