Ruby McLeod passed away peacefully during the night at Eastholme on September 30th , 2021 at the age of 91 yrs. She was predeceased by her husband Norman McLeod (2012).

Ruby was born in Jamaica & trained in Scotland prior to moving to North Bay where she nursed for many years in pediatrics at St Joseph’s Hospital. She was well known for her nursing activities and for also for being an exceptional gardener. For many years in the North Bay Horticultural Society she was responsible for civic beautification. This involved organizing, planning & planting many flowers around the city. Other flower beds were at the Waterfront, City Hall, and other locations around the city. One other notable bed on a sloping area at the waterfront was in the design of a Canadian Flag. Ruby was very proud of this.

In addition to her gardening activities after retirement Ruby enrolled in the Canadore Chef program & after 3 years graduated as a chef but did not pursue this career.

Her talents have been a great benefit to North Bay and people across Canada have seen & know her gardens. They have been published in a textbook of unique private gardens (her own home was spectacular), featured in an Ontario gardening magazine, in the North Bay Nugget, and in a Montreal newspaper.

Ruby will be greatly missed by her friends and family & her many dedicated caregivers.

As per her wishes there will be no visitation or service. Donations in memory of Ruby may be made to the charity of your choice.
