Long time Rutherglen resident Edgar Edwin McLaren died suddenly at the North Bay General Hospital, on Wednesday December 8th, 2010, at the age of 86 years. For the past 64 years Edgar has been the beloved and devoted husband of Doris Elizabeth (Whalley). Edgar was a long time employee of CP Rail, working in the yard and shops in North Bay. He & Doris raised their family and ran a farm in Rutherglen for many years. Edgar was the proud and loving father of Mervin and his wife Judy of Rutherglen, Grace Joeveer and her husband Roy of Sudbury, Heather Thompson (Wayne predeceased) of Warminster, Ont., and Mark and his wife Bev of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brent (Peggy), Stacey (James), Irma (Cindy), Kimberly (Anthony), Mark, Gwen (Gautam), Adam (Jessica) and Katie (Corey), and his 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Alex & Dolly McLaren and his brother Alvin, and will be fondly remembered by his sister in law Ruby and her family. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon and evening from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services will be held in Lakeshore Missionary Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday December 12, 2010. Spring interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rutherglen. If desired donations to the Heart & Stroke fund or the North Bay General hospital foundation, Equipment Fund, will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
