It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth McGruthers on October 29th, 2022, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, at the age of 73. He will be greatly missed by his beloved and cherished wife Helene of 52 years, son Jason McGruthers (Jodi Richer), and daughter Tracey McGruthers Pawson. Papa to his precious grandchildren, Kyle Pawson, and Grace McGruthers. Brother to twin sister Cathy, Donna, Gwen, Cal, and Dwight. Brother-in-law to Herve, Marlene, Joanne, and Nelson.

Ken McGruthers was born in North Bay on June 10, 1949. He entered the electric motor trade at a very young age, and his natural wisdom and work ethic led him to owning and operating the highly successful Gateway Electric Motors Inc. for over forty years.  The respect he has earned in the trade is insurmountable and will live on through his company. He was a strong family man, tough-as-nails when he had to be, and always soft and caring when the moment called for it.

Ken has left a vocational legacy with the family-run business and a personal legacy of memories. You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile that he has lived. You can remember him and only that he's gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, or you can do what he would want, smile, open your eyes, love, live on… and get back to work!

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay or the North Bay Regional Health Centre in North Bay are appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on December 4th, 1:00pm – 4:00pm, at The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie, 2025 Main Street West, North Bay, Ontario.
