McGHEE: John William Bryden “Sam”

Passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012. Sam was the beloved husband of the late Constance Pamela (nee Fox), he was 78 years old. Loving father of Jim of North Bay, Mark and his wife Terry and Brent both of Calgary. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Bryden, Anthony, Pamela and Cathleen including many nieces and nephews. Remembered by his daughter-in-law Karen and sister-in-law Frances Ann McGhee. Dearly loved brother of Jenny Watson of Perth, Scotland and Mary McGhee of North Bay. Sam was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Sophia McGhee and by his siblings Carol Warren and Bob and Douglas McGhee. Sam was a 23 year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving first as an Air Boson in the Royal Canadian Navy, and then later as a Firefighter in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He then worked in the Transit Department of the City of North Bay and then with Public Works. Sam was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, the Nipissing Masonic Lodge #420, the Rorab Shrine Club and was the host every Wednesday and Friday of the Gordon Drive Shedites commonly referred to as “Branch 23 and a Half”. Two Memorial Services will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 on Friday, November 30th, and all are welcome. The Masonic Service will be at 1:00 PM followed by the Legion Service at 1:30 PM. Fellowship and refreshments to follow. A gathering will occur later on Friday at the Legion for all of Sam’s friends to enjoy “one last Meat Draw” and remember his “Life”, in a way in which Sam would have appreciated.
