Gord McColeman
With sad but peaceful hearts, we announce the passing of Gordon McColeman, our kind and loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend.  Gord passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre on October 14, 2019, in his 72nd year.
Gord is survived by his devoted wife, Louise; loving children, Allison (Jim) and Ryan (Kaitlin); and precious granddaughter, Evie.  Gord was a cherished brother to Lynda (Joe), and Sheila (Ernie).  His memory will be treasured by brothers-in-law, Robert and Paul, and sister-in-law, Donna (Karl), nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gord was born and raised in North Bay, before moving south to pursue his education.  He worked as an educator for thirty-two years with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board.  A passionate coach of many football and basketball teams, he devoted much of his time to volunteering for various organizations (Girls CYO Basketball, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, and The Canadian Cancer Society).  Gord was a gifted athlete, excelling in baseball and football.  He was a proud supporter of Wilfrid Laurier University football and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats; both teams for which he played.  Gord enjoyed being a participant in, and fan of, many sporting events, but his greatest love was his family.
Friends will be received at THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME, 96 West Street, Brantford, on Monday, October 21st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 17 Washington Street, Paris, on Tuesday, October 22nd at 10am.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Brantford, and a reception will follow the burial at the Brantford Golf and Country Club.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to ARTC Brantford (artc.ca).
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the medical teams in Brantford and Hamilton, especially the caregivers at St. Joseph’s Lifecare.  Also, special thanks to Marie for her friendship.
