McCANN, William James 'Bill'

Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit with his family by his side on Thursday June 27th in his 93rd year. Bill was predeceased by his best friend and love of his life of 70 years, Helen McCann, who passed away on January 24, 2019. He will lovingly be remembered by sons Jeff (Jane) and Peter (Jane). Grandchildren Jeffrey Jr. (Robin), Sarah Marshall (Robyn Chandler), Rebecca Thompson (Denver), Meghan Woolfenden (Rob) and Jarrod (Katharine). Great Grandchildren Ryan, Elijah, Lola, Michael, and Kendra. Bill was a graduate engineer who spent his entire career in the construction industry. He was president of W.J.McCann Limited from 1975 to 1998. Bill enjoyed sports and always followed his Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and Raptors. He was a member of the North Bay Golf and Country Club for 65 years and was at his happiest playing a round with his golfing partners, Peter Webster, Arnie Cline, Terry Doyle, and the late Danny Wilkes. Bill spent tireless hours coaching kid's hockey at Kinette Playground in the late 1950's and early 1960's and still remembered all of his former players. The family would like to convey special thanks to Dr. Joel Carter who treated Bill with extreme patience and extraordinary kindness and respect as his health rapidly declined. Also, thanks to the Emergency staff and Palliative Care staff at the NBRHC and Care Partners Personal Service Workers for their efforts to make Bill as comfortable as possible during his final days. There will be no service. Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private celebration of Bill's life at a later date. If desired, donations in Bill's name to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy. We thank Bill for teaching us the true meaning of the words Honesty, Loyalty, and Integrity. A LIFE WELL LIVED - LOVE YOU DAD
