Passed away peacefully at her residence, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 61. Jackie was the beloved wife of John Martel and loving mother of Jocelyn Martel (John MacKinnon) and Jeff Martel. She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Elizabeth DiBartolomeo, Christine Russell (John) and Francine Dicaire (Denis). Jackie will be dearly remembered by her mother-in-law, Julie Harris, brothers-in-law, Pierre Martel (Lucie), Leo Martel (Karen), Mike Martel (Pat) and Robert Martel and sisters-in-law, Josette Pernu (Wayne), Danielle Vaillancourt (Jim) and Paulette Engler (Steve Nimz) and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Frank and Yvonne DiBartolomeo. Jackie shared her gifts of faith and courage with all those she met. This paraphrase of St. Francis of Assisi is a reflection of Jackie's 61 years of life. “Let us remember that when we leave this earth, we can take with us nothing that we have received – fading symbols of honor, trappings of wealth – but only what we have given: a full heart enriched by honesty, love, sacrifice and courage. Family and friends may pay their respects at MCGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's Church, Monday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium.
