December 20, 1932 – August 30, 2023

Sam passed away at North Bay Regional Health Centre after a short illness.

He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Bernice. Survived by his son, Don (Michelle); grandchildren, Mitchell (Renee) and Carolyn (Ben); and great-grandchildren, Hudson and Donivan.

He loved to get the family together for his special recipe of spaghetti and meatballs. He’d never let your wine glass go empty and there were always plenty of treats for the kids. If Sam was sitting in his favourite chair, there was sure to be a grandchild on his knee or a family pet snuggled up beside him.

He was a talented hockey player growing up and a lifelong fan of the sport. In the Fall, you could find him in “Sam’s Pepper Shack” making his famous hot peppers, which he always had on hand to send home with visitors.

Sam had a great love of music. He was a gifted guitar, accordion, and keyboard player for over 60 years playing at dances in the South River and Trout Creek area in his younger years and later getting together for jam sessions with his friends.

Thank you to the nursing staff on C3 and to Dr. Stacey and Dr. Anderson.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Trout Creek.
