Makarenko, Germaine (nee Crawley)

(1935 – 2016)  –  It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Germaine at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday January 20, 2016 at the age of 80 yrs. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Makarenko. Loving mother of Darren, Sean (Lisa) and Kelly McGregor. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Madeline, Shane, Olivia, Cody, Caitlyn (Jason Healey) and Chloe; her great grandchildren Felix and Adaline. Also survived by her sisters Mamie Libbey (Teddy) and Patricia Crawley; her brother Terry Crawley and special sister-in-law Jean Crawley as well as numerous nieces and nephews, special nieces Bev and Erin Devereaux. Also predeceased by her brothers Cyril, Ronald, Albert, William. Family, friends and church family were always her focus. Germaine was a eucharistic minister and reader at St. Peter the Apostle. She also was a childcare teacher at the YMCA for many years and a member of the senior singing group The Rising Stars. Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES on Sunday January 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St Peter the Apostle Church on Monday January 25th at 10am.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the St Peter the Apostle Church would be appreciated by her family.
