LLOYD, Mrs. Ruby

Of Sundridge. Born in January 1917, during a bombing raid over London, England, Ruby died February 22, 2006 at the North Bay General Hospital after a brief illness. Predeceased by her husband John in 1971. Survived by Carrie Smith (sister) in Fairhope, Alabama. Mother of Mary of Manitoba and Patricia of Sudbury. Grandmother of Christie (Joel) of Calgary, Alberta, John (Chelsea) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Leslie (Rob) of Ottawa and Kelly of Sudbury. Great-grandmother to Luc (3-years old) of Calgary and Julien (2-weeks old) of Ottawa. Devoted companion to Red, the family Retriever. A member of the Anglican Church for over 80 years. Ruby served as a Sunday School Teacher, ACW member. At the age of 75 years, she became a Lay Reader. Ruby was physically active all of her life. Her daily routine consisted of long walks followed by a swim at the community pool. She completed a 10km walk at age 85 in less than two hours. Ruby held many jobs in her lifetime. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was Dean of Residence at Branksome Hall in Toronto. Ruby was well known in the community of Sundridge. A kind, thoughtful and positive person, she will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family wishes to acknowledge the thoughtfulness of the 4W Nursing Staff at the North Bay General Hospital, the expertise provided at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Special Care Unit and Neurosurgical Wing, Dr. Mantle (Sudbury), Dr. Senior (North Bay), and Dr. Apremian (Burk's Falls). Special thanks to Melissa (Registered Nurse in North Bay) and Andrew (Registered Nurse in Sudbury) for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund, 80 Hayden Street, Toronto, Ontario M4Y 3G2 or the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. Private family arrangements entrusted to the Moore's Funeral Chapel, 9 Paget Street, Sundridge. A Service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Anglican Church, Sundridge with the Reverend Alan Knight officiating.
