Jacqueline Marie Germaine was born in the small Quebec community of Ripon on February 13, 1929 and died peacefully with her son and daughters at her side at Cassellholme Nursing Home in North Bay on March 31 at the age of 88. Jackie Lévis, beloved wife of the late Roland Lévis, is survived by her son in North Bay, Gerald Lévis (Nicole), her daughters Suzanne Lightheart of Vancouver and Paulette Allibon (Dennis), grandchildren Ashley and Brett Levis and Trevor Allibon and Jennifer Hodgins. She was the great grandmother to five- Lauren, Emma and Nathan Hodgins in Newmarket and Evan and Maya Allibon from Ottawa. She is survived by brothers Leo Mantha, Aurel Mantha, and sister Aline Striukas, all of Sault Ste Marie. Sadly, she was predeceased by a young son Reynald. Jackie moved with her parents early in her life from Ripon to the small logging community of Fossmill near Powassan and then to Kiosk in the heart Algonquin Park in northeastern Ontario. The small town flourished in the mid 1900’s and Jackie, her extended family and future husband Roland, all worked for Staniforth Lumber. Tragically Jackie lost her husband Roland in 1961 and moved to North Bay, built a home and raised her three young children. She worked tirelessly through her church Saint Vincent De Paul and did volunteer work with the Daughters of Isabella and later Cassellholme Nursing Home. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Cassellholme for their compassionate and professional care over the last several years, especially all those who insured Jackie was free of pain and comfortable in her last week. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial donations be made in Jackie’s name to the Cassellholme Foundation, Alzheimer's Society, or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at McGuinty Funeral Home, 591 Cassells Street, North Bay from 11am to 1pm followed by a Funeral Service in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel at 1pm. Memorial condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com After cremation has taken place, Jackie will be placed to rest with her late husband Roland and young son Reynald at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
