It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ivan, following a short and courageous battle with cancer, at home on February 21, 2005, at the age of 64. Ivan is survived by his beloved wife, best friend and soul mate of 45 years, Patricia (nee Girardot), cherished father of Terry-Lee (friend Andrew), Brent (Debbie), Jennifer Phillips (Terry) and Jody-May Joy (Dave). Loved Papa of 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Connor, Cameron, Mikayla, Ashleigh, Christie-Rose, Vanessa, Veronica, Meagan, Allyson and one great-grandchild, Kaleb. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Irene (Mathieu) Labrosse; two brothers, Dellard and Donald; one infant sister, and brother-in-law Raymond Girardot. Survived by his brothers and sisters, Syd (Shirley, deceased) of Waterloo, Bertha Lahti (Roger) of Corbeil, Rolly (Marg, deceased) of Parry Sound, Aurel (Patricia) of Tillsonburg, Maurice (Joan) of Prince George, Edgar (Elizabeth) of London, Anita Gauthier (Aurel), Noella Gravelle (Reginald) of Corbeil, Elzire Baldwin (Russell, deceased) of Edmonton, Lilianne Spanner (Karl) and AJ (Pat). Also survived by sister-in-law Jean Blake (Carl, deceased) of Parry Sound, brother-in-law Peter Girardot (Cheri) of San Francisco, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. A gentle and kind man who touched the lives of everyone he met, Ivan was active in the sporting community of North bay for many years, playing football with the North Bay Roughriders in 1959, The North Bay Tiger-Cats from 1960 to 1969, Bruce Office Supply GMFA Fastball from 1962 to 1968 and Intermediate "A" hockey with the Delmar Pepsi's from 1960 to 1968, winning several local, regional and northern Ontario championships in all sport disciplines. Ivan's sporting life included many hours of volunteerism with all the teams he was involved with, but his greatest sporting enjoyment was through his 34 years of hockey and camaraderie with the Sunday morning Oldtimers. Family and friends may pay their respects at McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, February 24th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Church, Friday, February 25th at 10:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in memory of Ivan to the Lung Association and Easter Seals Society, North Bay branches.
