On January 16th 2024, Hermann passed away peacefully in North Bay Ontario.

A native of Villach, Austria, Hermann chose Canada as his home after emigrating from Europe post the Second World War. As Hermann would often joke, coming to Canada on 'vacation' would turn out to be the longest vacation of his life, one of which he never regretted. Over his many years spent across Northern Ontario, a place that always fondly reminded him of his homeland, Hermann met Rita (Leach) Kraus, the woman who would not only catch his eye, but provide for a union that would endure, love and grow for more than 60 years. Together they formed the strongest bonds of love, and care, building a beautiful family together. John (Janina), (Vanessa, Rachel and Stephanie) brought much joy to Hermann as he watched his son succeed and grow in the Arts, and later his beautiful granddaughters flourish into talented young women, of which he was immensely proud. Steven, his youngest son would come some years after John, joining the family and infusing another layer of excitement and mystery to the family dynamic. Hermann had the opportunity in many ways around this time to relive his youth, not once, but a second time spending time with his family, but also gardening, golfing, curling, fishing, kayaking and hunting to name only a few interests that he shared with his sons on various occasions well into his senior years.

A Private family mass, in service to his wishes, was held to celebrate Hermann's life.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 8, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 299 Airport Road, North Bay, Ontario to welcome friends, colleagues, and well wishers to join together in remembrance, beginning with Mass at 10:30 am, to be followed by a light reception in the church hall.
