Bob passed away peacefully at Sudbury Regional Hospital following a heart attack, with family by his side. Loving father of Stephen (Susan), Kathy Mathieu (David), Murray (Lisa), and Melissa Turgeon (Marcel). Grandfather of Stephen, Sydney, Kasandra, Chad, Aaron, Jesse, Yogi, Mattingly and Maggie. Great- grandfather of Caedon. Beloved brother of Patricia Constantin (Gerry), Bette Lamothe (Allan), Joanne Robinson (Brian), Ernie Harrington, John Serre, Gerry (Brenda), Edward (Corrine), Peter Andrew (Maxine), and John (Angie) Kay. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Edward Kay(Nan) and Margaret Robinson (Harold). Also remembered by the Harper family. Bob spent his first years in Toronto and by his early teens had settled in North Bay, which he called home for the next 60 years. Bob had an incredible memory and loved to share his stories about the people he knew and met over the years while working in North Bay. He worked as a surveyor on many of our local highways and city roads early in his life. He went on to work in Lay Ministry with the United Church and then held many jobs over the years in the area. He was proud of the work he did and never retired.
He loved the outdoors, particularly canoeing and camping on Lake Temagami. Bob was an independent spirit, living life his way. He had great compassion for others and a strong faith in the goodness of all people. He believed in taking time to enjoy the beauty of life. He touched many people’s lives and will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration at the Turgeon family home (245 Rita Rd, North Bay) will take place on June 12th from 1:00 to 3:30pm. At 3:30, a short service will be held. All are welcome. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com
