Kannegiesser, Gord Sr.

Posted

Well known North Bay and Mattawa resident, in his 86th year. Gord served with the Air Force during WWII, after which time he married the former Dot MacLeod and moved to North Bay where he joined the C.P.R. He was well known for his participation in, and support of, minor hockey in this city. In later years, he moved to Mattawa where he opened a furniture store, and became a avid curler. He is survived by his four children Judy Warren, Gord Jr., Sheldon and Jason, as well as two sisters Molly Zufelt, and Dot Lalande, and two brothers Herb and Clarence. He was predeceased by a brother Garnet, and by his long-time companion Louise Belanger. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Brett, Jamie and Taylor, by his step children Chad and Heidi Belanger, and his step-grand children Mariah and Brooke whom he loved very much. We will miss him greatly, but take solace in knowing that he has gone to be with his saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Family receiving friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, February 25, 2006 from 2 until 4 pm at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gord to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by his family. Special thanks to Dennis and Evelyn Trudel, and to the staff of the Mattawa General Hospital for taking such good care of him. He appreciated you all.
