Posted

Passed away peacefully at the Toronto General Hospital on Sunday, December 7th while awaiting a liver transplant. Alice, a registered nurse, was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing College in North Bay. Her career took her all over the world, nursing in places such as the Australian Outback, Los Angeles, Manitouage, Ontario where she met her husband Bill, and eventually settling back in North Bay where she retired from the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital after 26 years. Alice was an avid gardener and talented crafts person who had a sarcastic sense of humour and enjoyed spending time with her family. Dearly missed by her husband of 31 years, Bill Jones of Redbridge, daughters Heather (Derek) Bennison of Powassan and Kerry Jones of Barrie, sister Frances (Mike) Sheffield of Capreol and brother Donald (Carole) Johnston of Redbridge, many nieces and nephews and her co-workers at the North Bay psychiatric Hospital, especially the clan on 2 CD. Predeceased by her son Jeffrey Jones, parents John and Marie Johnston (Redbridge) and brother Robert Johnston (Vancouver). A memorial visitation for Alice will be held at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road on Thursday, December 11th at 10 am followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at 1 pm at the Phelps Golden Age Club in Redbridge (North River Road). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation and would be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
