JOEVEER, Edgar

Posted

In loving memory of Edgar (Ed) Joeveer, 88 years, a long time resident of North Bay who passed away Saturday June 2, 2007 at the Toronto East General Hospital.

Ed successfully overcame many challenges throughout WWII and as a new immigrant to Canada. He loved Northern Ontario which reminded him of his Estonian homeland and in 1947, married Laine (Tischler) in Mattawa. He was a strong willed man who valued hard work and integrity. For much of his working life he was self- employed (Rutherglen Red & White General Store) and had real estate holdings in North Bay. Ed enjoyed business, doing home renovations, cross country skiing, speed walks along his lakeside Anita Ave. home, boating, snowmobiling and parties in his earlier days (also a gifted accordion player). He often had a twinkle in his eye and was always quick with a humorous comment.

Life was never the same for him after he lost his dear wife Laine in 1994. His children and grandchildren became ever more important to him.

Loving father of Karin (partner Doug) of Toronto, Roy (wife Grace) of Sudbury, dear grandfather of Irma Joeveer (friend Cindy) of Toronto, Mark Joeveer of Toronto and Gwen Joeveer (fiancé Gautam) of Ottawa. Loving brother of Elli and Meinhard (both predeceased) of Estonia.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 11 am.

Donations to the Parkinson Society of Canada (Research) or to the North Bay Empire Living Centre would be appreciated.
