With great sadness we announce the passing of Merle Charles “Harvey” Jessup. Harvey died at home unexpectedly on Oct. 15th after a short illness at the age of 72.

Son of the late Charles & Adelia Jessup. Devastated by this loss are; his wife of 48 years Dorothy (Robinson), his daughter Kendall (Ken Irvine – Harvey’s newest fishing buddy) and his grandson and partner in crime, Cooper. His brother Jim (Elsie deceased) & his brother Harold (Donna) who helped him maneuver a rough childhood and was his Buddy. Harvey had many nieces and nephews and he loved them all. He wasn’t great with names and he used to kid that all the boys were named “Frank” and all the girls were named “Mary” but he made everyone of them feel special. Harvey was also a big part of Dorothy’s family. Brother-in-law, Steve (Suzanne), Sister-in-law, Marie (Loyd) and Brother-in-law and best friend Mel (Sandy). Nephews; Blain & Jeffrey and niece Abbie.

Harvey loved hunting and fishing, and just being out in the bush. He loved nature and was always astounding us with facts that he knew. He will be missed by his hunting buddies and friends, Ken Reed, and Gary & Grant Reed.

Predeceased by his brother Ken (Muriel deceased), sisters, Shirley (Gus Deceased) Barb (Earl Deceased), Marlyn (Clarence Deceased) and Dolly.

Harvey worked for the O.N.R for many years retiring in 2004. He forged a lot of friendships over the years and often found a fellow retiree to talk to when we were out shopping.

The following was in one of the condolences that I received: Harvey truly was one of my favourite people. His personality and kindness, he was always a true friend. This sums up Harvey; he was kind, caring, smart, funny and loving and he will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Please join us on Saturday, October 21st at Martyn Funeral Home. Visitation from 1-2 p.m. service will be at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Nipissing Serenity Hospice, or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
