Jean Marion (Sloan) Huard

Peacefully in her sleep on Friday June 24th, 2011in her 80th year. Jean was born January 21, 1932 in Mattawa. Predeceased by her parents John and Mary (Mullen) Sloan and her loving husband Rheal and son Michael. Sadly missed by her children Art (Lucy), Ruth (Dave), Mark (Colline) and Susan (Scott), her grandchildren Matthew, Jennifer, James, Justin, Jacqueline, Karen and Jeff and great grandchildren Kelora, Joshua, Bryanna, Kenzie, Leslie, Jackson, Samuel, Amber and Hanna-Mae. Survived by her sisters Shirley (Ron), Millie (Lawrence) and Inez (Ed). Predeceased by her siblings Lima, Doris (Francis), Mick (Lorraine), Annie (Raymond), Charlie, Bud (Jeanne), and Jake (Dorilda). An avid bingo player, Jean was also a sharp shortstop, bowled and curled for many years. A late night piano player, many a song could be heard on bonspiel weekends. She worked at the Algonquin Nursing Home in her later years and she was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Jean will be sadly missed by many including her friend Charlie, all the friends who enjoyed her open door policy, nieces, nephews and the rest of a very large extended family. Friends may call at the Martyn & Sloan ‘Mattawa Chapel’ on Sunday from 1-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Church on Monday at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery.
