HILLIS, Robert Harold

Posted

Robert

With sadness, the family announces the passing of Robert Harold Hillis on September 14, 2022, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.  Bob was the beloved husband of Deanne (Dailey) for 62 wonderful years.  He was within two weeks of his 88th birthday.

Bob was the best Dad ever to Lisa O’Kane (Pat), Tim (Tracy) and Erin Pincivero (Tom).  He is dearly loved by his grandchildren Sean (Ashley) and Emily O’Kane, Eamon, Liam (Breanna) and Rebecca Hillis and Shannon and Mia Pincivero.  He was also proud Great Grandfather (Papa) to our beautiful Brynn O’Kane.  Close in-laws Gary and Patricia Dailey, Ron and Darlene Eade and Stella Hillis mourn his loss.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Roy and Lila Hillis and siblings Danny, Jack, and Donna Herald.

Bob was born and raised in Burks Falls, worked in Toronto, and then moved to North Bay in 1959 where he met Deanne.  He worked for 35 years for B.A. Oil/Gulf Oil/Petro Canada.

Bob’s passion was hockey.  He coached and was on the Executive for the North Bay Minor Hockey Association all through the 70’s.  He never missed a practice or game that Tim played.  Life at the rink continued with the grandchildren.  Hockey tournaments in the winter and track meets in the summer – wonderful memories.

Also, Bob was a regular season ticket holder at the Gardens.  For 58 great years he sat in Section 3 Row H, all through the Trappers, Centennials and the Battalion.  He was also a long-suffering Buffalo Sabres fan.  Regretfully, he will never get to attend that Victory Parade with his buddy Ian.

Bob was a humble, kind, and moral man who was happiest when he was helping others.  He loved his home, his wife, his family, and his friends.  He will always be with us in our hearts.  Memories live forever.

We would like to thank Dr. Stacey and his long-time doctor Dr. Mike Leckie for their kindness and support.  The kindness of neighbours and friends has been overwhelming.  God Bless you all.

Cremation has taken place.  There will be a graveside service at the Forest Lawn Cemetery on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 12 noon.  Reverend Dr. Ted Harrison will be officiating.

Donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre or All Hearts Pet Rescue would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
